ABOUT THE PROJECT

The figurine Girl adjusting her hair shows a young modern woman with a slim figure and combs her hair with a "ponytail". In addition, the figurine adds the fact that it was designed by one of the greatest Polish designers - Professor Lubomir Tomaszewski.


Properly chosen decoration emphasizes feminine attributes and gives expression.
The availability of several versions of the decoration makes it easier to fit it to different interiors.

HANDCRAFTING AND MARKING

Each figurine is handmade from the highest quality porcelain, and then hand-decorated with ceramic paints by painters.

The product has special protection in the form of underglaze and overglaze marks. Products manufactured in our factory include the factory logo placed underneath.

CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY

The figurine comes with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, which includes information about the handmade production and decoration, as well as details about the product (name, designer's name, year of design). In the case of figurines, a unique product number is also entered on the certificate (assigned according to the factory marking system).

B. in 1923 in Warsaw, d. Nov. 15th, 2018 in New York

Designer, sculptor and painter. In 1950s and 60s designed porcelain figurines for Institute of Inustrial Design in Warsaw.  In 2005 he started cooperati with AS Cmielow Porcelain Manufactory. An outstanding mind inspired by nature and man himself. Artist, favorably reviewed by critics of contemporary art. 

Lubomir Tomaszewski signed up in  the history of post-war Polish design as a man of extraordinary talent, even though he devoted only 10 years of his life to the discipline porcelain sculptures. After World War II, he took up studies at the Architecture Department of the Warsaw Technical Academy and at the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts. After three years’ study he o drop out of the WTA. He graduated the Academy of Fine Arts in 1955.

In 1956 Tomaszewski began working with the Ceramics and Glass Studio of the Institute of Industrial Design (IWP) in Warsaw.  Tomaszewski with four others talented sculptores (Henryk Jędrasiak, Mieczysław Naruszewicz and Hanna Orthwein) created a new style of porcelain chamber sculpture - they they simplified the shapes and eliminated small decorative elements. 

Lubomir Tomaszewski created over 30 of porcelain sculptures of which the most popular were the zoomorphic figures: Hen, Rooster, Greyhound, Raven and Camel, as well as Singer, Girls in flares, Girl with mirror and Arab Girl. In 1961 artist began work on a new design – a model coffee set and And two modern sets were born bearing the names of his daughters: Ina and Dorota.

In 1966  Tomaszewski emigrated to the United States, and  began teaching at the Applied Art and Interior Design Department of Bridgeport University (in Connecticut). In America he returned to his passion for sculpture, and he also began experimenting with painting. In the United States, he began painting paintings with fire and smoke, and created unique sculptures in a "duet with nature" (using wood, stone, glass, metal). He founded and became the father of the international artistic movement called Emotionalism - appearing against the idea of "art for art". According to the Emotionalists, their works are to appeal to human emotions, drawing inspiration from nature.

In the United States, he began painting paintings with fire and smoke, and created unique sculptures in a "duet with nature" (using wood, stone, glass, metal). He founded and became the father of the international artistic movement called Emotionalism - appearing against the idea of "art for art". According to the Emotionalists, their works are to appeal to human emotions, drawing inspiration from nature.

In the United States, he began painting paintings with fire and smoke, and created unique sculptures in a "duet with nature" (using wood, stone, glass, metal). He founded and became the father of the international artistic movement called Emotionalism - appearing against the idea of "art for art". According to the Emotionalists, their works are to appeal to human emotions, drawing inspiration from nature.

In 2005 Tomaszewski accepted a proposal from the owner of the AS Cmielow Porcelain Manufactory, Adam Spała ( to prepare some new figurines that were stylistically akin to the old ones. He created some figurines of cats and unique collections dancing women (Dancer, Joy of life, Daphne, Sento, Amare).

Has over 250 individual and collective exhibitions all over the world.

In 2014 Lubomir Tomaszewski was awarded one of the most important medals in Arts: Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, honoured by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
